International Childrens Day Add this

G4S strongly believes in being involved in the communities in which we operate.

On 1 June 2009, coinciding with International Children’s Day, some of our medical reaction staff enjoyed a day at a orphanage in Matola, which is a district of Maputo Province. The orphanage caters for children and adults with physical and mental deficiencies.

Several children enjoyed during the celebration of International Children's Day: singing, dancing, playing games and fun competitions.

The Portuguese Cooperation (part of the Portuguese Embassy) funds the orphanage and is run by Mother Isabel and her capable sisters. The day was organized by Rustic Productions Mozambique through their owner, Lucia Almeida. The event was organized to promote solidarity, raise funds and getting the public more involved. The event also ensured that the orphans have fun. Various public figures, ranging from sport to entertainment, were involved in the event offering personal belongings to raise funds.

G4S Mozambique, Integrated Security Services medical staff taught the orphans about first aid and how an ambulance works with all the medical equipment. There was also time to play with the children.

G4S had the pleasure of being involved in the event, which fall in our social responsibility. The day also proofed that G4S can change attitudes especially, the image and fear children normally have towards medical staff.
